The ISE Trinity English exam is based on communication and performance. The candidates are assessed on their reading, writing, speaking and listening skills through an integrated approach.
What is an integrated approach?
The integrated skills approach reflects how people use speaking and listening skills both separately and together when at work or in education.
The ISE Trinity English Independent listening tasks and the ISE Trinity English reading texts mirror the way that a student finds, selects and reports important and relevant information in an academic or educational environment.
The aim of the ISE Trinity speaking and listening exam is to assess a candidate’s English speaking and listening skills through tasks which relate to the real world.
The ISE Trinity English writing tasks are similar to the type of writing a student has to do in a school, college or university setting, for example writing essays.
Who takes the ISE Trinity English Exam?
The ISE Trinity English Exam is aimed at young people or adults who use English as a foreign or second language as part of their studies in order to further their skills and improve their knowledge in a variety of subject areas.
Lower level candidates (Trinity ISE Foundation and Trinity ISE I), however, are generally young people or adults in school or college who are taking in order to graduate from university.
Finally, the higher levels of the exam (Trinity ISE II and Trinity ISE III), is aimed at students who are preparing for higher or further education or adults who are required to prove their English language proficiency levels within an educational context, for example, teachers.
